2026’s Lunar New Year Falls on February 17, and I had the chance to celebrate at my favorite spot in Denver, Sắp Sửa, for their Tết Lunar New Year Party!

Lunar New Year isn’t very familiar in Japan, but across Asia, it’s a huge celebration.
In Vietnam, Tết is a special time to be with family and honor ancestors.

It was a ticketed event, and each ticket came with one drink (yes, alcohol included!)
along with a delicious Vietnamese buffet dinner.

Also, we were all given red lucky envelopes with “10 Sắp Sửa dollars” to play a traditional Vietnamese dice game called bầu cua cá cọp.

The rules are simple: match the image on the dice and you double your bet. It’s the kind of game that both kids and adults can enjoy.
With local artists’ pieces as prizes, the energy in the room really took off!

Proceeds from the artists’ work will support CAPU (Colorado Asian Pacific United) and flood relief efforts in Vietnam.
The fact that the party was designed to give back really reflects the warmth and generosity of the owners, Ni and Anna Nguyen.

My first time at Sắp Sửa’s Tết Lunar New Year Party was so warm and inviting, it felt just like joining a family gathering.
It’s amazing how sharing food, laughs, and experiences across cultures can bring people together.
I was also struck by how beautiful everyone looked in traditional Vietnamese áo dài, and now I’m already thinking about getting one for next year!
