Why Red Rocks Is a Must-Visit Destination in Colorado

Just a 30-minute drive from downtown Denver, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is one of Colorado’s must-visit spots, known for its stunning red rock formations and breathtaking scenery.

Beyond its beautiful hiking trails, Red Rocks is famous for its unique outdoor amphitheatre nestled between giant red rock formations.

I had the chance to see a concert here, and I was blown away by the sound quality and the incredible atmosphere.

Admission and parking are free when there are no events. If there’s a concert or special event, tickets are required. There’s also a Visitor Center where you can learn more about the area’s history.

One thing to keep in mind when visiting is that the venue is located at an elevation of  6,450 feet.

There are quite a few stairs and uphill paths inside the venue, and even as someone used to higher altitudes, I noticed I got out of breath and tired more easily than usual.

Still, the views from up here are absolutely amazing. Just remember to stay hydrated and take it at your own pace.

↑ Renovated in 2021, the new stage delivers an even more powerful live experience.

While Red Rocks is famous as a concert venue, it also hosts high school graduations and seasonal events like “Film on the Rocks” and “Yoga on the Rocks.” Watching a movie or doing yoga in this open-air, scenic setting is part of what makes it so special.

Tickets for popular artists often sell out quickly, so it’s a good idea to book early. If you get the chance, make sure to experience the incredible views and unique atmosphere of Red Rocks in person. It’s one of those places that’s truly impossible to capture in photos.
