Did you know there’s actually a castle in Colorado Springs?
Even better—you can enjoy afternoon tea inside!
I recently visited to celebrate a close friend’s birthday, and I can’t wait to share what it was like.
My friend told me there was an afternoon tea at a castle in Colorado Springs, and I knew I had to check it out. It’s called Glen Eyrie Castle, and it’s located just minutes from the Garden of the Gods.
To get to the castle, you’ll go through a gate since it’s located on a large private property, and visits are usually by reservation.
Besides afternoon tea, you can also take castle tours, stay overnight, or go hiking around the grounds.
Once you step inside the castle, you’ll find a calm, historic atmosphere that feels like you’ve stepped into another world.
In fact, this was my first time experiencing afternoon tea in the U.S.
And having it inside a castle made the whole experience feel even more special and exciting.
We had the “Spring Tea” menu this time, a seasonal offering.
I was especially impressed by its use of familiar Japanese ingredients like sushi, matcha, and yuzu.
There was also a great selection of teas. My friend chose a berry herbal tea, and I went for a recommended vanilla rooibos tea.
Both had a lovely aroma and tasted amazing.
After afternoon tea, we explored the castle grounds.
Since it’s so close to Garden of the Gods, we even saw impressive rock formations that felt like a natural power spot.
I’ve always thought of Colorado Springs as a place for hiking and outdoor activities, but this was a totally different and unexpected experience—afternoon tea in a castle.
