My Daily Morning Ritual : Coconut Oil Coffee
About 10 years ago, coconut oil coffee became a popular trend in Japan, with many claiming that adding coconut oil to your coffee enhances its benefits. Since then, it has become my daily morning ritual.
But recently, I realized I had forgotten just how beneficial it really is. So, I decided to dive deeper into the research and found that new potential benefits have been gaining attention.
Even if you're not a coffee lover, it's worth giving this a try!
Let's dive into the benefits of coconut oil.
Beauty Benefits
It combines vitamin E, moisturizing, and antibacterial benefits. It's great for consumption, as well as for the face, body, and even for dry hair and scalp
Dietary Benefits
The "medium-chain fatty acids" found in coconut oil are quickly digested and absorbed, making them an efficient source of energy that boosts metabolism and is less likely to be stored as body fat.
Cognitive Function Improvement
Medium-chain fatty acids are broken down into ketones, which serve as an energy source for the brain, replacing glucose. This process is believed to improve cognitive function and may help prevent cognitive decline.
It’s amazing that coconut oil coffee can even help with cognitive function!
Lately, I’ve been a bit worried about my forgetfulness, so this is such exciting news for me!
Now, let’s take another look at how to make coconut oil coffee effectively:
【 How to Make Coconut Oil Coffee 】
- Brew a cup of hot coffee.
- Add about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to the coffee cup and stir until it’s fully dissolved.
- Mix well.
The recipe is simple, but there are a few key points to keep in mind, so let me share them with you.
POINT1
It seems that refined coconut oil may have reduced effectiveness, so it's recommended to use "virgin coconut oil." The recommended daily intake is about 1 to 2 tablespoons.
POINT2
Coconut oil solidifies and turns white when the temperature is below 20°C, so it's not ideal for iced coffee.
If you find the oil floating and it bothers you, it's recommended to emulsify it using a milk frother, or you can add milk or cream to make it easier to drink.
By the way, if you're not a fan of coffee, coconut oil works great with green tea or black tea as well.
In our household, we also use coconut oil for making pancakes, spreading it on toast instead of butter, and even when making curry. It’s a versatile ingredient in both cooking and baking.
Coconut oil works wonders both for the brain and the body, inside and out.
Why not start with a cup of coconut oil coffee in the morning?
